Brilliant prospects for Lumagica Imperial Gardens Innsbruck

The magical light park is shining again

Following the great success of the original opening event, the light park will be returning this coming Christmas season: from 5 November 2021 to 9 January 2022, hundreds of light objects will once again enchant visitors big and small.

Visitors can look forward to some dazzling new highlights inspired by distant lands on the approx. 1 km circular trail – and there are plenty of surprises in store. Plus, the many popular highlights from last year will also be returning the the Imperial Gardens in November. There will be more than 300 light objects waiting to be discovered. The trail will be dotted with cute and friendly forest dwellers alongside majestic deer and lions. Abstract video projections set to music and interactive light displays will complete the themed areas of LUMAGICA Innsbruck.

Lumagica Innsbruck is taking place from 05 November 2021 to 9 January 2022 in the Imperial Gardens in Innsbruck.

THE LIGHT PARK

LUMAGICA HOFGARTEN INNSBRUCK

The magical light park is shining again!

Last winter, luminous mythical figures and creatures of nature, interactive light installations and magical light projections on ancient walls captivated thousands of people. Following the great success of the original opening event, it will be that time again this coming Christmas season: from 5 November 2021 to 9 January 2022, hundreds of light objects will once again enchant visitors big and small.

Innsbruck’s Imperial Gardens

Innsbruck’s Imperial Gardens, a 10-hectare park opposite the Imperial Palace, has existed since the early 15th century. At that time, the privilege of visiting the gardens was reserved for imperial highnesses, princes, and members of the court. It had not always been a park. As early as in 1396, the Imperial Gardens were used as fruit and vegetable garden. After that it became a zoo and a playground for the nobility.

Ferdinand II developed the park in Innsbruck into the so-called “Gartenanlage Ruhelust“. He created a magnificent garden in Renaissance style which, modelled after the Italian example, included aviaries with birds, a lion house, a deer garden, and a pheasant garden.

The last major reorientation took place in 1857/58 when the park was converted into an English landscape garden. Since that time, the garden has kept its character. Since 2001, Innsbruck’s Imperial Gardens have been under a preservation order.

Today, the Imperial Gardens are the most popular park in Innsbruck, which is used as a green area for relaxation. The garden’s lawns are a meeting place for young and old.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

No inspection when entering the Imperial Gardens!

Together with the city, the state and the Bundesgärten, the decision has been made that LUMAGICA remains open. The Imperial Gardens, a recreation area for people, is a public park and is therefore allowed to remain open.

LUMAGICA Innsbruck opens on 05 November 2021 und is open until 9 January 2022

Open daily from 5.30 pm.

Last admission to LUMAGICA Düsseldorf light park is at 8.30 pm.

The health of visitors and employees is a top priority for the organizers of LUMAGICA.

The concept of the light park observes the basic new organizational requirements. As an outdoor exhibition taking place in very spacious locations with staggered admission times, we actively avoid potential waiting times and crowds. Our extended and comprehensive safety and hygiene concept is implemented uniformly at all locations and supported by trained personnel.

This year, visits require consideration for each other, and we apologise for the inconvenience the additional measures required will cause.

All COVID-19 regulations in force at the time of the exhibition will, of course, be met and communicated here on our website and in the social media.

More information can be found here.

Tickets can now be purchased online .

Have you already got tickets and questions regarding your order? Then contact our Service Hotline:

As is currently the case in many zoos and botanical gardens, there will be fixed-date tickets for LUMAGICA Innsbruck this year. When buying your ticket(s), you choose which day you want to visit the light park.

Furthermore, you then have the possibility to choose from a number of 30-minute admission times. This way, the number of visitors is spread out more evenly.

In addition, we only offer a limited number of tickets per day to make sure that there is enough space to comply with the social distancing requirements.

Tickets already purchased for LUMAGICA Innsbruck 2021 will remain valid for 2022. To thank you for your trust, you will receive an upgrade so you can use your 2021 tickets as FlexTickets next year!
FlexTickets enable you to visit LUMAGICA Innsbruck once any open day and during any desired time slot.

If you prefer not to keep your ticket, you can return it for a full refund of the ticket price. Please contact the respective ticket provider for this.

Yes – the circular route is barrier-free and thus wheelchair accessible. Just note that LUMAGICA Innsbruck is an open air event in winter.

LUMAGICA Innsbruck light park takes place in any weather condition – including in rain. Please be aware of this when purchasing your ticket(s). Unfortunately, tickets cannot be returned due to bad weather unless there is an imminent danger to visitors. In any case, we recommend wearing weatherproof clothes and sturdy footwear.

In general, dogs are allowed, however, they must be kept on leashes. Additionally, dogs are not allowed to enter the lawn and plant area. Also, we would like to point out that there are hourly music-synchronous light shows at the main venue. The music will be louder there, and the light effects can additionally affect the animal’s well-being. Ultimately, the decision is up to the visitor.

The circular route (self-guided) is offered as a one-way fixed trail and has a length of about 1 kilometre. Depending on how long you linger and how long your breaks are, it takes from around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Of course, you can take breaks on your way, thoroughly admire the fascinating light installations, or spend some time at our photo points to take a few pictures. Toilets and food & drink options are also available along the way.

You are very welcome to take pictures of our light displays. We would be delighted if you could capture the special atmosphere of the LUMAGICA Innsbruck light park and share it with us on Facebook and Instagram under #lumagica and #lumagicainnsbruck .

Unfortunately there are no free of charge car parks. Therefore we recommend to get there by public transport. Please note, that tickets for public transport are not included in the LUMAGICA Innsbruck ticket.
